A defining voice in North Queensland dance.
Suzie Searight is a North Queensland dance artist, choreographer and movement director. Her practice spans original contemporary work, musical theatre, teaching and community practice, shaped through sustained relationships with dancers and organisations across the region.
Colour is part of the choreography.
Suzie develops each work through movement, lighting, sound and costume. Her choreography combines contemporary dance with experimental movement, with colour and physical connection central to the process.
As Resident Choreographer with Ulysses Dancers since 2019, she creates and stages an original contemporary work each year. Her work has been supported by Townsville City Council and the Regional Arts Development Fund, with Body Godly and Iniko recognised at the 2025 Australasian Dance Association Championship.
Suzie has taught at The Ann Roberts School of Dance, The Cathedral School, local schools and Dancenorth Australia’s community programs. Her classes have included advanced young dancers, adults, older dancers, Dance for Parkinson’s participants, people with disability and school groups.
